RESOLUTION
36-PR-73
WHEREAS, the union representing the employees of the Evanston
Bus Company are scheduled to strike at 12:01 A.M. on April 24, 1973; and
WHEREAS, all reasonable and available techniques accessible to
the City have been tried in an attempt to avert or postpone this strike;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that a corollary of con-
certed action by the employees of the Evanston Bus Company is the
necessity of accepting that concerted action if circumstances do not
permit agreement to the demands made:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that it is the sense of the City
Council that a strike at this time could do serious harm to the future
of the Evanston Bus Company employees and bus service in the City of
Evanston; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that although this strike would do serious
harm to the citizens of the City of Evanston, financial efforts to re-
solve it should not be borne by the City of Evanston; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City should continue its efforts
with the North Suburban Mass Transit District to assure good bus service

'in Evanston on a reasonable and proper basis, and hereby appeal to all
parties concerned to maintain service at least until June 30, 1973 when
current efforts toward solutions by the North Suburban Mass Transit
District and the City may come to fruition.
