HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1974-009-R-74Intro. & Adopted: 2/18/74 RESOLUTION 9-R-74 A Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Negotiate with Illinois Bell Telephone Company for the Underground Placement of Cable WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston adopted Ordinance 97-0-73 on February 4, 1974, which grants a franchise to the Illinois Bell Telephone Company to operate in the City of Evanston, and WHEREAS, one of the objectives of the Comprehensive • General Plan of the City of Evanston is to assure that the usual • qualities, as well as the functional purposes, of major physical elements of the City be considered when making decisions, WHEREAS, the placement of telephone lines underground is preferable to placing them above ground from an aesthetic point of view, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Evanston, that the City Manager be instructed to enter into negotiations with Illinois Bell Telephone Company in accordance with their letter to the City ofJanuary 14, 1974 to maximize the amount of telephone lines placed underground each year. •9-R-74 2 APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Evanston, this day of February, 1974.
