HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1974-087-PR-74• RESOLUTION 57-PR 4 WHEREAS, the Town of the City of Evanston is empowered to and does administer a program of temporary general assistance to needy Evanston residents; and WHEREAS, the Town of the City of Evanston is desirous of providing that level of assistance which is necessary for a minimum standard of living in Evanston; and WHEREAS, the Board of Town Auditors adopted a budget for the 1974- 1975 Township Fiscal Year on June 24, 1974, for the purpose of carrying on a general assistance program; and WHEREAS, the Township Supervisor of the Town of the City of Evanston appeared before the City Council at its regular meeting of October 14, 1974 and stated that he will be forced to reduce the levels of general assistance on November 1, 1974 unless an alternative source of funds is found immediately • and WHEREAS, the Township Supervisor and the Township Committee have determined that the amount of funds necessary to meet the current needs of the Township is approximately $150,000: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Evanston that it: 1. goes on record as supporting the need for the general assistance grant levels to be maintained at current levels through the end of the current Township Fiscal Year on March 31, 1975; and 2. agrees that the deficit in general assistance funds be met up to a maximum of $150,OOU from City of Evanston Revenue Sharing Funds; and 3. will hereby transfer as needed up to a maximum of $150,000 • to the Town of the City of Evanston for purposes consistent with the foregoing; and -2 - • 4. makes these funds available to the Township only on the basis that no funds may be given directly to general assistance recipients, and that the Township will appropriately expend these funds in accordance with Revenue Sharing guidelines; and 5. directs that a system of transfer accountability be developed by which the Township will report to the City in an appropriate manner as to when these funds are necessary and how they have been expended; and BE IT.FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is instructed to implement this Resolution in the necessary fashion. • Jc / F.dgar Vnnneman _ jr- - Mayor ATTEST: /s/ Maurice F_ Rrown City Clerk Adopted: October 28 1974. 0
