HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1975-039-R-750 40 A RESOLUTION Upon the Occasion of the Death of JOHN J. CORCORAN WHEREAS, JOHN J. CORCORAN departed this life on May 5, 1975; and WHEREAS, JOHN J. CORCORAN was an alderman in the City Council of the City of Evanston from 1937 through 1963, representing the Seventh Ward; and WHEREAS, JOHN J. CORCORAN served upon various committees of the City Council including the Public Buildings, Judiciary, Public Utilities, Parks, Zoning, Fire, Water, Planning, Civil Defense, Relief, Waters and Administration Committees, serving as Mayor Pro Tempore in 1951-52 as well as in 1960, and serving as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee; and WHEREAS, he proposed various types of legislation of both a business and humanitarian nature; and WHEREAS, he was a resident of the City of Evanston for more than fifty years; and WHEREAS, the Evanston citizens deeply appreciate his interest in serving the citizens of his ward as well as the citizens of the entire City, giving most liberally of his time, energy and abilities; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Evanston to pay tribute to John J. Corcoran. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this City Council on behalf of itself, the Mayor, City Manager, City officials and the residents of this community, does hereby express profound regret upon the occasion of the death of John J. Corcoran and tenders to the bereaved members of his family its heartfelt sympathy. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be made a part of the permanent records of the City and that a suitable copy thereof, signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk, be sent to the members of his bereaved family.
