HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1975-051-PR-7551-PR-75 A RESOLUTION Establishing Curb Cut and Bicycle Ramp Policy in the City of Evanston I( WHEREAS,.the City Council finds that there is a need to facilitate the ` m free access to business, comercial, industrial, residentia'1_and other areas of I the City to all persons; and WHEREAS, the physically handicapped and disabled will be benefitted by j the placement of sloped sidewalk -street junctures; and I WHEREAS, the employment of such curb ramps will aid the movement of I� bicycle and wheelchair users throughout the city: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF I _ i EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: �I That curb cuts and sidewalk ramps be installed at all intersections I I as part of any curb reconstruction, including known wheelchair routes, designate, I ' bicycle routes, alley returns and arterial streets where protected by traffic signal,devices, provided, however, that where such curb reconstruction occurs i I at the intersection of an arterial street with a side street, which intersectic� is not controlled by traffic signals, the curb cuts and sidewalk ramps shall be installed for the crossings parall o the arterial street only.
