A RESOLUTION
To Preserve an Existing Memorial
WHEREAS, I.U. Berg was a man who, as a resident of the City of Evanston,
• contributed much of his time and his wealth toward the establishment and
improvement of the parks and arboretum of the City; and
WHEREAS, I.D. Berg,. in 1951, contributed certain sums in the memory
of his deceased wife, Alice Kimpton Berg, -for the improvement of a playground
site within the formally established "Ellingwood Park", which is currently
memorialized by a monument and plaque; and
WHEREAS, probate proceedings have been initiated regarding certain
provisions of the Last Will of I.D. Berg which proceedings can be disposed by
evidence of the resolve of the City Council of the City of Evanston to maintain
the memorial to Alice Kimpton Berg upon the site where it presently is sit-
uated:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK -COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
That it is the desire of the City Council to perpetuate the memorial
• to the memory of Alice Kimpton Berg, in recognition of the contribution of
I.D. Berg which continues to be enjoyed by residents of the City who use
the'facilities of the park, arboretum, bird sanctuary and ecology center, all
of which have been objects of Mr. Berg's generosity.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the sense of the City Council that
said memorial remain to such extent practiceable, undisturbed in accordance
with the wishes of I.U. Berg.
