RESOLUTION
Declaring a Moritorium on the Installation
of Certain Permanent Tanks for the Storage
of Propane-Isobutane Mixture
• WHEREAS, an independent, outside body or agent is being retained b

the City Council of the City of Evanston to investigate the safety of the
installation of large tanks for the storage of a propane-isobutane mixture and
to recommend any additional safety measures which should be taken with regard to
their installation and maintenance; and
WHEREAS, there is a possibility of potential danger of storage of
propane in any residential area; and
WHEREAS, there is a possibility of potential danger in any area where
such materials are stored in case of eruption or other area threats; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston finds that it is
in the best interests of the City of Evanston that there be no'further instal-
lations of permanent tanks with a capacity of five thousand gallons or more
for the storage of a propane-isobutane mixture at this time pending the outcome
of the aforementioned investigation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That there is hereby created a moritorium upon the instal-
lation of permanent tanks with a capacity of five thousand
gallons or more for the storage of a propane-isobutane mixture until such time
as the independent, outside body or agent which is to be retained by the City
Council of the City of Evanston has completed its investigation and submitted
its report to the City Council or an appropriate committee or subcommittee
thereof, and that committee or subcommittee shall make recommendations of any
additional safety measures which should be taken with respect to such installations.
SECTION 2: This resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval.
