HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1976-072-R-7612-3-76 '40 72-R-76 A RESOLUTION Concerning the Use Of Potentially Surplus MSD Lands WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chi ca o is presently considering the development of policies g � regarding the use and/or disposition of open or surplus lands under its ownership; and WHEREAS, Evanston, Skokie, and Wilmette have such lands within their jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, such open lands.constitute a major open space resource within each community; and WHEREAS, the actions of each community regarding the use of these lands will impact upon the actions of the other communities; and WHEREAS, the best use of such lands can be identified through coordinated and systematic planning involving each community; and WHEREAS, these communities have coordinated in the past to achieve common goals; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it to be in the best interest of the City of Evanston that these communities unite again to identify common goals with reference to the most effi- cacious use of such lands: 1 4 72-R-76 -2- NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois favors the reser- vation of.surplus,or open lands of the Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago located within Evanston, Skokie and Wilmette for open space use within these communities. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a committee from Evanston, to be appointed by the Mayor, be constituted to work with similar committees from Skokie and Wilmette to undertake such planning and coordinate this effort with the Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago.
