Of The Retirement Of
Alderman Arnold F. Winfield
WHEREAS, Alderman Arnold F. Winfield served as Alderman of the Second
Ward of the City of Evanston during the years 1963 to 1977; and
.WHEREAS, during his tenure as Alderman, he served as a member of the
Municipal Services Committee, Northwestern Liaison Committee, Chairman and
member of the Housing Committee, Chairman and member of the Robert Crown Center
Construction Committee, the Human Services Committee, the Township Committee,
the Planning and Development Committee, the Waste Collection Committee, the
Civic Center Committee, and as Ilayor Pro tempore; and
• WHEREAS, Alderman Arnold F. Winfield has served the citizens of his
Ward, as well as the citizens of the entire City, with distinction, giving
most liberally of his time, energy and ability:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Evanston on behalf of itself, the Mayor, City Manager, City Officials, and the
residents of this Community, do hereby express great appreciation to Alderman
Arnold F. Winfield for his service to the City of Evanston, and regret the
occasion of his retirement as Alderman.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be made a part of the
permanent records of the .City of Evanston and that a copy, executed by the
Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be sent to the said Alderman Arnold F.
Winfield.

REPORT OF CANVASSING COMMITTEE
TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, ILLINOIS:
The undersigned having been duly appointed at the regular meeting of the
City Council held June 6, 1977 to canvass the vote in the Special Election held
June 7, 1977 for the purpose of electing an Alderman for the Second Ward for the
unexpired term of Alderman Arnold Winfield, resigned, reports that it has
canvassed the vote with respect to said election and reports the results as follows;

Your Committee, therefore, finds that Curtis Heaston having received the highest
number of votes cast, is duly and legally elected to the office of Alderman of the
Second Ward to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Arnold Winfield.
The Canvassing Committee submits the foregoing report as a complete return and
canvass of the results of the Special Election held in the Second Ward of the City
of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois on Tuesday, June 7, 1977 and recommends that said
report, as submitted, be approved and made part of the records of this Council.
