HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1977-021-R-77n U • 21-R-77 A RESOLUTION Upon The Occasion Of The Retirement Of Alderman Richard E. Lyons WHEREAS, Alderman Richard E. Lyons served as Alderman of 'the Eighth Ward of the City of Evanston during the'years 1965 through 1971 and 1973 through 1977; and WHEREAS, during his tenure as Alderman he served as a member and/or Chairman of the Municipal Services Committee, the Human Services Committee, the Northwestern University Advisory Committee, the Land Use Committee, the Civic Center Committee, the Committee To Review Status of Tax Exempt Institutions, the Committee on Committees, Waste Collection Comriiittee, Emergency Medical Services Committee, City School Liaison Committee, and as (Mayor Pro tempore; and. WHEREAS, Alderman Richard E. Lyons led the effort for a paramedic emergency service for Evanston and worked long and hard for low and moderate in- come housing, for the adoption of the Fair Housing and Real Estate Licensing Ordinance, and'for various activities which promoted equal rights and social justice for all of our citizens; and WHEREAS, Alderman Richard E. Lyons has served the citizens of his Ward, as well as the citizens of the entire City with distinction, giving most liberally of his time, energy and ability: NOW, THEREFORE, BE I.T RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Evanston on behalf of itself, the Mayor, City Manager, City Officials, and the residents of this Community, do hereby express great appreciation to Alderman • Richard E. Lyons for his service to the City of.Evanston, and regret the occasion of his voluntary retirement as Alderman. 01 21-R-77 • BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be made a part of the permanent records of the City of Evanston and that a copy, executed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be sent to the said Alderman Richard E.
