A RESOLUTION
Upon The Occasion Of The.
Retirement Of Alderman
Thomas H. Brinkmann
WHEREAS, Alderman Thomas H. Brinkmann served as Alderman of the
Second Ward of the City of Evanston during the years 1969 through 1977; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as Alderman he served as Chairman and/
or member of the Human Services Committee, the Administration and Public Works !
Committee, the Committee on Committees., the Civic Center Committee, the City
Chamber Committee, the New Revenue Sources Committee, Police Services Commit-
tee, Township Committee, and as Mayor Pro tempore; and
WHEREAS, Alderman Thomas H. Brinkmann has served the citizens of his

Ward, as well
as
the citizens
of
the entire
City with distinction, giving most
liberally of
his
time, energy
and
ability;
and
.WHEREAS, Alderman Thomas H. Brinkmann worked long and hard for busi-
ness redevelopment, heading the movement for the liquor ordinance, and actively
working for the repeal of the Blue Laws, the approval of the First Special !
Service District of Illinois, and the establishment of the Holiday In.n; and
WHEREAS, Alderman Thomas H. Brinkmann gave outstanding service as
a liaison with the Chamber of Commerce, as the City Council representative of
the Mental Health Board, in pushing for a long range Capital Improvements
Plan, and in initiating programs for better management of our Community; and
WHEREAS, Alderman Thomas H. Brinkmann served as the first Chairman
• of our Housing and Community Development Act Committee, which has set housing
criteria for the City and managed the disbursement of hundreds of thousands

of dollars, and was actively involved in the program for low and moderate
income housing, the developments at the Levy Center, and in successfully
mediating youth controversies, among many other accomplishments:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Evanston on behalf of itself, the Mayor, .City Manager, City Officials, and the
residents of this Community, do hereby express great appreciation to Alderman
Thomas H. Brinkmann for his service to the City of Evanston, and regret the
occasion of his voluntary retirement as Alderman.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be made a part of the
permanent records of the City of Evanston and that a copy, executed by the
Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be sent to the said Alderman Thomas H.
Brinkmann.
