HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1978-060-R-7812/7/78 12/13/78 60-R-78 A RESOLUTION Pertaining To Certain Municipal Election Procedures For April 3, 1979 WHEREAS, on April 3, 1979 a Municipal Election for selection of Alderman, and no other candidates, will be held in - the manner provided by law; and WHEREAS, the State Board of Elections has issued a legal opinion providing to municipalities the choice of reducing the number of election judges per precinct from five (5) to three (3); and • i1 ` WHEREAS, use of paper ballots instead of automatic equipment and reduction to three (3) election judges would pro- vide a significant savings.. to the City of Evanston; and j WHEREAS, the City Clerk has found, and the City Council of the City of Evanston does find that the most equitable means (� of listing candidates on a ballot is by rotation of their names i alphabetically in each precinct of the ward for which they are .a ( candidate; and i I i WHEREAS, the loyalty oath that candidates were here- to fore requested to sign when filing their petitions has been 4 i found unconstitutional, • 60-R-78 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That for the election of April 3, 1979 the City Council of the City of Evanston re- quests that the City Clerk utilize paper ballots with rotation of names from precinct to precinct, and further authorizes the use of three (3) election judges per precinct.
