UREYERe departed this life on November 4, 1960; and WHEREAS, LESLIE H. DREYER was an Evanston resident for thirty-one years. was Vice -President of the First National Bank of Chicago, President of the Bankers' Association for Foreign Trade,.Vice-President of world Trade Division of the Chicago Association of Cowmerce and Industry, and member of the Hoard of Education of Evanston High School District 202, and elected President of said Board in 1957; and WHEREAS, Evanston citizens are awr♦ of his interest as an authority on foreign finances, advisor to civic and_ • business organisations on matters of foreign trade, and his Interest in the Evanston High School which he summed up in his own cement* in 1957 "our comprehensive high school will have the best that is known in curricula, faculty and physical facilities;" and wHERMS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Evanston to pay tribute to LESLIE H. DREYRRO MA THEREFORE, BE IT REFULVkD by the members of the City Council of the City of Evanston, on behalf of ourselves._ the Mayor, the City Manager, the officials as well as the citizens of this cowunity, we express profound regret upon the occasion of the untimely death of LESLIE H. DREYRA and tender to the bereaved members of his family our heartfelt sympathy. Suite 200 1710 Orrington Avenue Evanston, Illinois 60201 YOU are invited to the Research Park Report to the Community Bulk Rate' U.S. Postage PAID Permit No. 299 Evanston, IL 095 1.-C2 RESOLUTION — i/i�— �e�) WHEREAS, Northwestern University has recently announced its inten- tions to seek a legislative grant of submerged lands to be developed by filling in an extension of some 65.2 acres of its present lakefront campus, and WHEREAS, this proposed Lakefront Development is to be used in perpe- tuity for educational purposes serving not only students of Evanston, but also students from all over the State of Illinois as well as other parts of the United States and foreign countries, and WHEREAS, the use of the proposed additional land also incorporates the addition of a fine arts group of buildings including an Art Center and Opera Workshop which will add greatly to the cultural and aesthetic assets of the Evanston and North Shore communities, and WHEREAS, this Lakefront Development Plan will greatly lessen the 40 urban problems resulting from University land acquisitions to the west of its present campus, and WHEREAS, members of the City Council have noted the wholehearted public sanction and approval with which Northwestern University's announce- ment has been greeted in our city, and WHEREAS, Northwestern University has agreed that the final detailed plan and specifications for the Lakefront Development will be re -submitted to the City of Evanston for its final approval prior to the commencement of any filling operations, NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Evanston does hereby enthusiastically endorse the Lakefront Development Plan of Northwestern University and does hereby respectfully recommend to the Legislature of the State of Illinois passage of the necessary enabling legislation and to the U.S.Army Corps of Engineers the granting of such further approvals as may be necessary. 0
