Upon the occasion of the
retirement of

W E , A EF4-W ROOT E. JAMES served as alderman
of the Fourth Ward of the City of Evanston during the years
1922 to 1925, 1931 to 1933 and continuously from 1934 to
1961 s and
ERFAS, during his term as alderman he served on
various committees of the City Council as member or chairmen
of Committees on Police, Streets, barks, Audit, Judiciary,
Printing, Sewers, Zoning, Lighting, Fire, local Improvements,
Public Buildings and Municipal Services; and
WHUEAS, ALDEMAN ROBERT E. FAMES known as the dean of
the City Council in view of his long tenure in office, wherein
he has served the citizens of his ward as well as the citizens
of the entire city with distinction:, giving most liberally of
his time, energy and ability,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this City Counc i l
on behalf of itself, the Mayor, City Manager, City officials
and the residents of this community, do hereby express apprec-
iation to ROBERT E. JAMES, for his service to the City of
Evanston and regret the occasion of his retirement as alderman.

BE IT FURT M RESOLVED that this resolution be made a
part of the permanent records of the city and that a copy
executed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be sent
to the said ROBERT E. ,TAMES.
