R E S O L U T I O N
Authorizing Emergency Appropriations
of $100000 for
Dutch Elm Disease Control Purposes
WHEREAS, Chapter 24,.paragraph 8-1-6 of the Illinois
Revised Statutes, 19619 provides that additional appropriations
may be made to "suppress or prevent the spread of disease, or to
prevent or remove imminent danger to persons or property"; and
WHEREAS, the number of Dutch elm disease cases identified
In the City of Evanston to date in 1962 constitutes, in the opinion
of this body, a threat to property of such nature and degree as
to constitute an emergency which requires that additional tree -
trimming work be undertaken'during the 1962 fiscal
year;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that an emergency appro-
priation in the amount of $10,000 be and hereby is authorized to
Increase the 1962 General Fund appropriation for contractual tree
services (510.290) from $309000 to $40,000; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the additional tree care
expenditures herein authorized be financed from General Fund miscel-
laneous revenues, and that the Finance Director and Comptroller
be and hereby is authorized and directed to increase by $100000
the estimates for miscellaneous revenues where financial results
to date indicate that actual revenues will exceed the revenue
estimates set forth in the 1962 budget.

WHEREAS# The City of $vanston Las required, by the State
of Illinois, Division of Waterways, to **our* a permit for
the construction of steel sheet piling for shore protection
• in the portion of the lake shore lying north of the south
line of Lincoln Street, extended, and south of the north
line of Milburn Street, extended, in the City of Evanston,
as described and located on plans attached hereto and made st
part hereof, The purpose of said construction is to provide
protection for the proposed expansion of our City of Evanston
Water Works.
THEREFORE* Be it resolved, that the said Shore Protection
and Fill Work Program is hereby approved by the City Council
and that the City Manager is authorized to apply to the State
of Illinois for a permit to construct same.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED*
That the City Clerk is hereby instructed and authoriaed to
. send a certified copy of this resolution to the Department of
Public Works and Buildings, Division of Waterways, of the
State of Illinois.
