R E S 0 L U T I 0 N
WHEREAS, Evanston was first incorporated as a
municipality when its voters met on December 29, 1863, and
organized the Town of Evanston embracing the land area bounded
by Lake Michigan, Foster Street, Wesley Avenue and Crain and
• Hamilton Streets; and
WHEREAS, the year 1963 will mark the one hundredth
anniversary of Evanston as an organized community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and
Aldermen comprising the Evanston City Council:
- That 1963 be declared Evanstonts Centennial Year
for the purpose of providing appropriate recognition
of this community's accomplishments during its first
one hundred years;
- That the 1963 Centennial Year also have as our
objective the identification of the kinds of
private and public efforts which will assure the
future of the Evanston environment;
- That the Evanston Centennial Committee be officially
designated as the sponsoring agency of the Centennial
Program;
- That Evanston organizations be urged to help cele-
brate the Centennial Year by assisting the Evanston
Centennial Committee and by appropriate ceremonies.

WHEREAS, The State of Illinois acting through th3 Department
Public Work,a & Buildings, division of Highways, hereinafter referred to as the
STATE, is reconstructing tha exiatt ng traffic control signals at the inter-
section of Ew.rson Street (SRI 58) (CH 303)' and McCormick Roulovard (CH 053)

referred to as the CITY, has requested that signals be irstallcd at the intern -
section of Emerson Street (Elgin Road - SBI 58 - CH 303) and K;c.Dcniel Avenue

3. The STATE frill install the Interconaecticei of the
proposed signals with the reconstructed signals at
•McCormick Boulevard and trill set and control the
timing thereof, and.
�. The STATE will pay all construction and engineering
costa, and
WS&MAS, the total construction cost is estimated at approximately
$12,000.00, and the CITY hat already appropriated this amount as indicated by
a construction resolution designated Section ?3-M and passed'by the CITY COUMCIL
on April 23, 1962 under the provisions of the XDtor Friel Taos Law to psy the
CITY'S share of the cost of this improvement
NOW TRSREFORB PE IT RESOLVED, that if said iWovement is con-
structed as heretofore stated the CM vill participate on the follauing basins - •
1. The CITZ will. reimburse the SZATS for all construction
coats, and
2. The CITY will pay the energy costs for the signals
• within its corporate limita
E9 IT FL2= RSSOLYED, that upon completion of the improvement
the Department of Finance of the State of Illinois is hereby authorised and
directed to deduct and pair over to the Department of Public Works & Buildings
of the State of Illinois from funds allotted to the CITZ ender the Motor Fuel
Tax Law such amounts as are due said Department for construction costa under
the provisions of this resolution, and
EE IT rutunan RESOLVED, that the CITY agrees to pass a supplemental
resolution to provide necessary funds for the CMIS coat of the improvement if
the amount already appropriated provea:to be insufficient to cover said cost, and
BE IT runiaPA RESOLVED, that upon completion of the improvement
the VILLAGE will maintain these signals and beep same in good repair, henceforth,'
and will pay for the electrical energy used by the traffic signal heads within
its corporate limits
Z IT FURTHER RBSOLMp that approval of this resolution by the
STATE shall be considered its concurrence in acceptance of the terms contained
herein, and shall constitute an agreement between the STATE, CITY, and FILLM
• for the construction, maintenance and operation of the improvement described
herein; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the CITY Clerk is hereby directed
to transmit this certified copy (orange carbon backed) of this resolution to the
Division of Highways, through its District Engineer's Office at Chicago.

RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING PREVAILING WAGES
(CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE)
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Evanston duly passed a resolution
on February 12, 1962 determining the prevailing wages being paid to laborers,
workmen and mechanics engaged in the construction of streets or public build-
ings coming under the jurisdiction of the said City Council, and a certified
copy of the same was duly filed with the Secretary of State, and
4JHEREAS, The prevailing wage rates so determined are still in full force
and effect without change, except as follows:
Electricians
Lineman ..................$ 4.75 per hr.
Lineman -Helper ...........$ 3.77 per hr.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the prevailing wages established in the
foregoing resolution with the changes listed above, are the rates being paid
to laborers, workmen and mechanics employed in the construction of streets or
public buildings coming under the jurisdiction of this City Council, and
•BE IT,FURTHER RESOLVED, That any change in the prevailing wage schedule
that may occur will be established by an amending resolution which will be
duly filed with the Secretary of State, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Clerk be and he is hereby directed
to file a certified copy of this resolution with the Secretary of State and
publish same in the Evanston Review.
