• Authorizing a 1962 tax levy of
$185,000 for Street and Bridge
purposes.
MEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the City of
Evanston, Illinois, that a tax levy for STREET AND BRIDGE PURPOSES
greater than would be produced by a tax rate of .06 per cent, less any
statutory adjustments of such rate, on the full, fair cash value of all
taxable property in the' City of Evenston, Illinois, as equalized or
assessed by the Department of Revenue, is required for the fiscal year
beginning January 1, 1962, and ending December 31, 1962;
' THEREPORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the amount of the tax levy to
be made for STREET AND BRIDGE PURPOSES for the fiscal year beginning
• January 1, 19620 and ending December 310 1962, being a special tax in
addition to other taxes authorized to be levied, be $185,000 to be
raised by the special tax for STREET AND BRIDGE PURPOSES of not more
than .10166 per cent, less any statutory adjustments of such rate, on
the full, fair cash -value of all taxable property within the City of
Evanston, Illin,01s.

RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING PREVAILING WAGES
(CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE)
• WHEREAS, Illinois Revised Statutes, Chapter 48, 39s-1, 39s-12, Prevailing
Wage Law, as amended August 8, 1961, requires that the public body awarding any
contract for public work or doing the work by day labor shall ascertain the general
prevailing hourly rate of wages for employess engaged on such work, and
WHEREAS, the Statutes further provide that said rates of pay be publicly
posted and/or kept available for inspection by any interested party and a certified
copy thereof promptly filed in the office of the Secretary of State.
THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Evanston,
Cook County, State of Illinois, that the determination of the prevailing wages as
set forth below.are the prevailing hourly rates of wages being paid to all laborers,
workmen, and mechanics engaged in the construction of highways and streets in this
locality and such public buildings coming under the jurisdiction of this City.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that nothing herein contained shall be construed
to apply to the prevailing hourly rate of wages in the locality for employment other
than public works construction as defined in the Act, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized
to file a certified copy of this resolution with the Secretary of State.

Subject: Resolution for appropriating motor
fuel tax funds for maintaining streets.
Attached please find copy of resolution appro-
priating motor fuel tax funds in the amount of $132,418,30
for maintaining various arterial streets and state aid
routes including the maintenance and electrical energy for
traffic signals on various street, for the period of
January 1,1962 to December 31,1962.
It is recommended that this resolution be passed
by the City Council and that.certified copies of said
resolution be sent to the Illinois Division of Highways,
for approval.

0 RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City of Evanston located in the County of Cook, State of
Illinois, wishes to locate, operate and maintain during the year 1962
water mains and sewer lines constructed either by the City of Evanston or
under supervision of said City on the State Highways in the City of Evanston,
Illinois,
WHICH by law comes under the jurisdiction and control of the Department of
Public Works and Buildings of the State of Illinois.

WHEREAS, a permit from said Department is required before said work
can be legally undertaken by said City.

THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council, City of Evanston, County
of Cook, State of Illinois
FIRST: That we do hereby request from the Department of Public Works
and Buildings, State of Illinois, a permit authorizing the City of Evanston
to proceed with the work herein described.
SECOND: That we hereby pledge the good faith of the City of Evanston
• and guarantee that all work shall be performed in accordance with the condi-
tions of the permit to be granted by the Department of Public Works and
Buildings of the State of Illinois, and to hold the State of Illinois, De-
partment of Public Works and Buildings, harmless on account of any damages
that may occur to persons or property during the prosecution of such work,
and assume all liability for damages to persons or property due to accidents
or otherwise by reason of the work which is to be performed under the provi-
sion of said permit.
THIRD: That we hereby state that the proposed work is to be performed
by the employees of the City of Evanston.
FOURTH: That the proper officers of the City of Evanston are hereby in-
structed and authorized to sign said permit in behalf of the City of Evanston.
