• R E S O L U T I O N
PROVIDING FOR A JOINT CITY AND STATE IMPROVEMENT
ALONG GREENBAY ROAD (SA ROUTE 055) STATE SECTION 1963-2-RS
CITY M.F.T. SECTION 74-CS, IN THE CITY OF EVANSTON
COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois, acting through its Department of Public
Works and Buildings, hereinafter called the STATE, and the City of
Evanston, a municipal corporation, hereinafter called the CITY propose
to jointly improve approximately 6744 lineal feet of Greenbay Road
between Emerson Street and Isabella Street by resurfacing the existing
pavement width of 43 and variable foot', with 1-1/2 inches of Bituminous
Concrete Surface Course, St-.:jclass I-11 and all other necessary appurte-
nant work as indicated on the approved plans.
WHEREAS, the STATE is willing to participate in -the improvement to the
following extent provided the CITY will participate as provided in this
resolution.
1. The STATE will make the surveys, prepare plans and specifica-
tions, receive bids and award the contract, furnishing engi-
neering inspection, dur_in� construction and cause the improve-
ment to be built in accordance with the plans, specifications,
and contract, and
2. The STATE will pay all construction, and construction engi-
neering costs, and

3. Upon completion of the improvement and. so long as the street
is used as a State Highway Extension, the STATE will maintain
or cause to be maintained, the pavement structure exclusive
of the area used for parking.
WHEREAS, the total estimate cost, including construction and construc-
tion engineering, is $100,000.00.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that if said improvement is constructer;
as heretofore stated, the CITY will participate on the following basis:
• 1. The CITY will reimburse the STATE, in the amount of fifty per
cent 50%1 of all costs, incurred by the STATE, for the above
described work, and.
2. Upon completion of the improvement, the CITY will maintain,
or cause to be maintained, the pavement- structure outside
that portion which is to be maintained by the STATE, includ-
ing a1i Curbs, Gutters, Manholes, Catch Basins and Storm
Sewer appurtenances, and
3. The CITY shall adopt and put into effect, before the award
of the contract, an ordinance requiring that parking be
parallel to the curbs and will in the future prohibit parking

at such locations on or immediately adjacent to this improve-
ment as may be determined to be necessary by the State from
traffic capacity studies, and
4. The CITY will adopt a resolution approving the plans and
specifications.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that there is hereby appropriated the sum of
$50,000.00 or so much thereof as may be necessary, from any monies
now or hereafter allotted to the CITY under the provisions of the

Motor Fuel Tax Law, to pay the CITY'S share of the cost of this im-
provement as provided herein, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the CITY agrees to pass a supplemental
resolution to provide necessary funds for the CITY'S share of the
cost of this improvement if the amount appropriated herein proves to
be insufficient to cover the cost, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that upon completion of the improvement the
Department of Finance of the State of Illinois is hereby authorized
and directed to deduct from any of said money allotted to the City
under the Motor Fuel Tax Law and pay over to the Department of Public

Works and Buildings of the State of Illinois, such lump sum amounts
as are due said Department under the provisions of this resolution as
based on the final estimate prepared by the Department of Public Works
and Buildings, but not to exceed the amount appropriated herein, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that approval of this resolution by the STATE
shall be considered as its concurrence in and acceptance of the terms
contained herein and shall constitute an agreement between the CITY
and STATE for the construction and maintenance of the improvement de-
scribed herein, and
• BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby directed to
transmit the executed reproducible copy of -this resolution to the
Division of Highways through its District Engineer's office at
Chicago, Illinois
