WHEREAS, it has been recognized that there is a need and a desire to
provide a common meeting place for high school students residing in
Evanston; and
WHERF.IS, the Joseph and Sarah Levy Foundation has generously pro-
vided $175,000 for the construction of the Evanston Student Union; and
WHEREAS, the City of Evanston is providing a site for the Student Union
at the northwest corner of Aiaple Avenue and Church Street; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Evanston Student Union have accepted the
responsibility for raising a minimum of $12,000 to provide for furnishings
for the building and have begun their drive for funds:
• NaF, TI EREFCRE HE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council of the City of
Evanston hereby encourages.individuals, businesses, and philanthropic foun-
dations to provide financial support to the Evanston Student Union so that
the Union may,attain, and even exceed its goal of $12,000 so as not only to
suitably furnish the interior to meet the needs and desires of the students,
but also to further this most worthwhile endeavor.
