REPORT OF CANVASSING COMMITTEE
TO THE N1MERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON$ ILIGINOIS
The undersigned, having been duly appointed at the regular meeting of the
City Council held March 20, 1967, to canvass the vote in the Regular Municipal
Election, held April 4, 1967, for the purpose of electing Aldermen for the City of
Evanston reports that it has canvassed the vote with respect to said election at
the Municipal Building on Saturday, April 8, 1967
There, in the presence of observers, we opened the tally sheets of the
judges of election from each precinct, compared the signatures on the envelopes
with those on the tally sheets, and determined the number of votes far each candi-
date shown thereon. We also examined the binder of voter Applications for Ballots
to determine the number of such applications for each precinct where possible.
The results of these determinations are as follows:

The Applications for Ballots in the 3rd Precinct of the 5th Ward were
not available for inspection and are presumed to be sealed in the container with
46 the ballots,
In the 8th Precinct of the 8th Ward the applications for ballots for
the six absentee ballots reported delivered to the polling place were not in the
binder of Applications, and are presumed sealed in the container with the ballots;
this may account for the number of applications being five less, than the total vote
recorded above.
While there were the usual inconsistencies in the accounting for the
ballots delivered, defective, objected to, spoiled and returned, it is the unani-
mous recommendation of your Canvass Committee that the results of -the election be
officially stated to be the figures determined and recorded aboves subject to the
normal provisions for challenge and recount open to the interested parties,
Your Committee, therefore, finds that the following named persons,
having received the highest number of votes cast, are duly and legally elected to
the following named offices, each for a term of four (4) years, and we recommend
that the persons named hereafter be declared elected Alderman:
First Ward
C. Lyman Emrich, Jr.
Second Ward
Arnold F. Winfield
Third Ward
Leonard J. Howell -
Fourth Ward
William E. Harper, Jr.
Fifth Ward
Eugene Beck
Sixth Ward
Russell B, Wiscomb
Seventh Ward
William A, Nott
Eighth Ward
Richard E. Lyons
Ninth Ward
Shel Newberger
•The Canvassing Committee submits the foregoing report as a complete
return and canvass of the results of
the Regular Municipal Election held in the
City of Evanston and the Town of the
City of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois, on
Tuesday, April 4, 1967, and recommends that said report, as submitted, be approved
and made a part of the records of this Council.
