RESOLUTION
Providing for an Election on the Question
of Levying an Annual Tax for the Purpose
of Providing Community Mental Health
Facilities and Services.
WHEREAS, under the provisions of Sections 4 and 5 of
the Community Health Act (Ill. Rev. Stats., 1967, Ch. 91%9 §
304,305) in order to provide the necessary funds.or to supple-
ment the existing funds for mental health facilities and services,
the city'may levy an annual tax not to exceed .1% upon all the
taxable property in the city, provided that said tax is approved
at -a referendum by a majority of the votes cast; and
WHEREAS, Section 5 of said Act provides that the City
Council may by resolution provide for the submission of such
question to the electors at a regular general election in the
city, or at.a special election called for this purpose; and
WHEREAS, the regular general election within the city
will be held on April 1, 1969; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has
determined that the best interest of the city requires that
the question of levying an annual tax of not to exceed .1% for
the purpose of providing community mental health facilities
and services be submitted to the electors of the City of
Evanston at the regular general election to be held in the
city on April 1, 19699

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois:
SECTION 1: That there be submitted to the
electors of the City of Evanston
at the regular general election to be held in the City of
Evanston on April 1, 1969 the proposition, "Shall the City
of Evanston levy an annual tax of not to exceed .1% for the
purpose of providing community mental health facilities and
services?"
That such proposition shall be submitted to the elec-
tors of the City of Evanston pursuant to the provisions of the
"Mental Health Act" (Ill. Rev. Stats., 1967, Ch. 91%, s.300.1
et seq.).
That the annual tax may be levied for the purpose of
providing such mental health facilities and services including
facilities and services for the mentally retarded in the
community.
SECTION 2: That said election shall be held
within the precincts designated
for the regular general election to be held on April 1, 1969
and the persons designated as Judges for said regular general
election shall serve as Judges of election for the voting on
said proposition.

SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of
Evanston shall, in the regular
notice of the regular general election to be held on April 1,
1969, give notice that at such election every elector may
vote for or against the levy of tax for the purpose of pro-
viding community mental health facilities. and services.
SECTION 4: This resolution shall be in full
force and effect from and after
its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
