HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1968-013-R-680 Revised 6-2-E9 Amended 6-9-69 13-R-68 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, thirteen miles of the 137 miles of streets in the City of Evanston are unpaved; and WHEREAS, unpaved streets, in many instances, cannot be contin- uovsly well maintained under certain weather conditions; are there- fore the source of numerous complaints; are the source ,of dust, dirt, and other irritations for nearby residents; and detract from the appearances of neighborhoods and prevent them from achieving a finished appearance; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to promote and encourage the paving .of all unpaved streets by July 1, 1974; and WHEREAS, the City Council is willing to approve certain Motor Fuel Tax contributions for the paving of unpaved streets; and WHEREAS, this use of Motor Fuel Tax moneys is deemed to be in the community's interest so as to eventually reduce street maintenance expenditures and improve and conserve residential neighborhoods and the tax base they represent: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Evanston, Illinois, hereby declares that it shall be the City's policy to pay 15 percent of the cost of all future special assessment street paving projects from the City's Motor Fuel Tax allocations, subject to the approval of the Illinois Division of Highways; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City.Council hereby declares that it shall be the City's policy that its contribution from Motor Fuel Tax allocations may exceed the standard 15 percent contribution where the project costs or assessment pattern are unusual in some �espect and a contribution beyond 15 percent is required to keep The assessments of private property owners normal in amount and reason- ably related to the benefits of their properties. Emery ATTEST: Mayor !s 1 Ms?iiri ce F• Broom City Clerk r `• 14-R 68 CITY OF EVANSTON, COUNTY OF COOK, ILLINOIS J 'Y RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING PREVAILING WAGES (CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE) WHEREAS, Illinois Revised Statutes; Chapter 48, 399-1, 39s-12, Prevailing 9Wage Law, as amended July 29, 1963, requires that the public body awarding any contract for public work shall ascertain the general prevailing hourly rate of wages for employees engaged on such work, and WHEREAS, the Statutes further provide that said rates of pay be publicly posted and/or kept available for inspection by any interested party and a cer- tified copy thereof promptly filed in the office of the Secretary of State. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Evanston, Cook County, State of Illinois, that the determination of the prevailing wages as set forth below are the prevailing hourly rates of wages being paid to all laborers, workmen, and mechanics engaged in the construction of highways and streets in this locality and such public buildings coming under the jurisdic- tion of this.
