A RESOLUTION
Canvassing The Results Of The Regular
Election Held On April 3, 1979, And
Declaring The Results Of Said Election
WHEREAS, on the Third day of April, 1979, a regular election was
held in and for the City of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois, for the purpose
of electing one Alderman for each Ward, each to serve a full four (4) year
term; and
WHEREAS, said election was regularly called in the manner provided
by law; and

WHEREAS, the notice of election was published according to law; and
WHEREAS, the election returns made by the election judges to the
municipal clerk were presented to the canvassing committee of the City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
by law.
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Evanston finds that
the regular election was held and conducted as provided
SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Evanston finds from
• the returns of said election that the following votes
were cast for the candidates indicated:

REPORT OF CANVASSING COMMITTEE
TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, ILLINOIS:
The undersigned, having been duly appointed at the regular meeting of the City Council,
held March 12, 1979, to canvass the vote in the Regular Municipal Election held
April 3, 1979, for the purpose of electing Aldermen for the City of Evanston, reports
that it has canvassed the vote with respect to said election and reports the results
as follows:

Total number of. Applications for all Wards - 9,465
Your Committee, therefore, finds that the following named persons, having received the
highest number of votes cast in their respective Wards, are duly and legally elected
to the office of Aldermen of the City of Evanston, each .for a term of four (4) years,
and we recommend that they be declared elected:
First Ward - Sherry Laycock
Second Ward - Curtis Heaston
Third Ward - Ned Lauterbach
Fourth Ward - Jack Korshak
Fifth Ward - Roosevelt M. Alexander
Sixth Ward - John 0. Wyandt
Seventh Ward - David G. Burden
Eighth Ward - Betty A. Papangelis

The Canvassing Committee submits the foregoing report as a complete return and canvass
of the results of the Regular Municipal Election held in the City of Evanston., Cook
County, Illinois, on Tuesday, April 3, 1979, and recommends that said report, as
submitted, be approved and made a part of the records of this Council.

SECTION 3: That by reason of said vote, the City Council declares
the following to have been .duly elected to full four
(4) year terms as Aldermen in the Wards hereinafter indicated:
(a) that Sherry Laycock has been duly elected Alderman
of the First Ward for a full four (4) year term;
(b) that Curtis Heaston has been duly elected Alderman
i of the Second Ward for a full four (4) year term;
i (c) that Ned Lauterbach has been duly elected Alderman
of the Third Ward for a full four (4) year term;
(d) that Jack Korshak has been duly elected Alderman
of the Fourth Ward for a full four (4) year term;
(e) that Roosevelt M. Alexander has been duly elected
Alderman of the Fifth Ward for a full four (4)
year term;
j (f) that John 0. Wyandt has been duly elected Alderman
I of the Sixth Ward for a full four (4) year term;
(g) that David G. Burden has been duly elected
.Alderman of the Seventh Ward for a full four (4) '
• year term;
(h) that Betty A. Papangelis has been duly elected
Alderman of the Eighth Ward for a full four (4)
I year term; and
(i) that Dona Gerson has been duly elected Alderman
! of the Ninth Ward for a full four (4) year term.

the proceeding of the City Council of the City of
Evanston.
