HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1979-013-R-79t 3 - � a • 2/28/79 13-R-79 A RESOLUTION Recommending Increased National Section 8 Allocation WHEREAS, the City of Evanston is committed to the provision of reasonably priced housing for its low and moderate income citizens; and WHEREAS, the City of Evanston has taken part in the Section 8 subsidized housing program administered through the Housing Authority of Cook County; and i 1 ; WHEREAS, the Section 8 and similar programs are superior in that they permit dispersal of clients in existing units without stigmatizing the client; and WHEREAS, the scarcity of reasonably priced housing coupl-ed with the intensity of inflation creates known and admitted hardships; and + WHEREAS, the proposed 1980 federal budget of the United States of America proposes a nationwide reduction from 334,000 Section 8 units in 1979 to 225,000 units in 1940; + NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City. of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois, to communicate by this Resolution to the President of the United States the City of Evanston's recommendation for an increase in the number of Section 8 subsidized housing units in the 1980 91 • 1 1 1 12-0-79 budget of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to at least the 1979 level of 334,000 units.
