WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has considered the continuing rate of condominium conversions as imperiling the existence of a reasonable number of residential rental units in this City; and WHEREAS, said housing situation is causing the City of Evanston to lose valued members of the community; NOVI, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON: SECTION 1: That a moratorium on the conversion of rental units to condominium ownership shall constitute a matter of top priority to be addressed in meaningful action -by the City Council with all possible speed. SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law. OMayor ATTEST: • City C1e k "' Adopted: �, 1979 n LJ • • SECTION 2: That the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to accept a duly executed quitclaim deed from the Evanston Community Recreation, Association for that property contiguous to the site currently and commonly known as the Chandler Park Site and legally described as follows: That part lying East of a line drawn from a point on the North line which is 104.20 feet East of the Northwest corner, to a point on the South line which is 163.52 feet East of the Southwest corner, of the following described tract of land: That part of the North 6 rods (99 feet) of the W 1/2 of the SW 1/4 of fractional Section 7, Township 41 North, Range 14, East of the Third Principal Meridian, being also the North 99 feet of that part of. Lot 4 in Assessor's Subdivision of said fractional Section 7, lying North of the North line of Lincoln Street, West of the Railroad land and East of the Sanitary District of Chicago right of way, as now laid out (except from the above described tract, that part thereof described as follows: Commencing at a point on the South line of the above described tract, 240 feet East of the Easterly right of way line of said Sanitary District of Chicago, as now laid out; thence North 42 feet to a point; thence East along a line 42 feet North of and parallel to said South line of the above described tract, to the Westerly right of way line of said Railroad land; thence Southerly along said Westerly railroad right of way line, to the South line of the above described tract, being also the South line of the North 6 rods of the W 1/2 of the SW 1/4 of said fractional Section 7; thence West along said South line of the above described tract to the point of beginning), in the City of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois.
