HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1979-036-R-79L� 7/19/79 36-R-79 A RESOLUTION Recommending That Governor Thompson Sign H.B. 450 - State Administration Of Aid To The Medically Indigent WHEREAS, the Town of the City of Evanston is committed to the , availability of necessary medical care for all of its citizens; and WHEREAS, the Town of the City of Evanston provides and funds a com- prehensive program of General Assistance services for its citizens; and WHEREAS, the current Public Aid Code (Illinois Revised Statutes, 1977, Chapter 23, Sections 7-1 to 7-6) requires "Local Aid to the Medically Indigent" with all eligible costs payable by the local governmental units; and WHEREAS,.the Town of the City of Evanston possesses neither the re- sources nor the taxing ability to meet the costs of a fully operative Aid to the Medically Indigent Program, and has already strained the budget for General Assistance; and . WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Public Aid possesses the exper- tise, staff and data bank for evaluating and processing medical bills in a more cost-effective manner; and WHEREAS, the Illinois Legislature has passed H.B. 450 to transfer administration of the Aid to the Medically Indigent from the local govern- mental units to the State; 3b-R-79 �I • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED .by the Town Board of Trustees of the Town of the City of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois, to communicate by this Resolution to the Honorable James R.
