Alderman Bersbach addressed the Council as
f ollows:
"The Council.may remember that the Hoyt report and the
Kincaid report, the latter having to do with re -zoning, was
referred to the Plan Commission who in turn referred same to
the Zoning Committee. ,
The Zoning Committee and Zoning Commission met and
discussed it and formulated their ideas as,to what might be
done. A joint meeting was held and discussed between them
and as a result of that meeting I submit the following report."
Several weeks -ago members of the Zoning Con -
mission and of the Zoning Committee of the City Council attended
a joint meeting called by the Chairman of the Zoning Committee for
.the purpose of considerinq recommendations made in the Kincaid and
Hoyt reports with respect to:
(a) front yard requirements in Class "F" Commercial
zones;
(b) "garden apartments" in areas close to commercial
zones;
(c) large houses in older residential areas.
It was the considered judgment of those present that the time is
not now opportune for making a revision of our present zoning
ordinance. It was their opinion that the best interests of the
community would be served by the strict enforcement of existing
regulations, depending upon the.authority vested in the Zoning
Board of Appeals to recommend variations in those cases where
existing regulations impose undue hardship with respect to
individual properties.
It is therefore the recommendation of the Zoning Committee
that no revision of the zoninq ordinance be undertaken at this
time, but that the Zoning Enforcing Officer be instructed to
proceed with the enforcement of existing regulations wherever
and whenever violations of said regulations are known to occur."
This has the approval of the Zoning Committee and moved its passage.
Duly seconded and carried.
