The meeting of the Evanston Civil Service Commission was called to order at
6:15 p.m. The minutes of the December 17, 2005 meeting were approved.
The Commission adjoumed into Executive Session at 6:20 p.m. for purposes of
personnel matter deliberation, upon unanimous vote.
The Commission reconvened into open session, and upon unanimous vote, took
the following action:
Approved the appointments of Deron Daugherty and Sean
Heneghan as probationary Fireflighter/Paramedics, subject to
normal pre -employment conditions.
Did not approve the appointment of Justin Anthony as a
probationary R refighter/Pa ra medic.
The meeting scheduled for January 12, 2006 was cancelled due to lack of a
quorum; the next meetings of the Commission are scheduled for January 17 and
January 23, 2006.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.

The meeting of the Evanston Civil Service Commission was called to order at
6:15 p.m. The minutes of the January 10, 2006 meeting were approved. Staff
provided the Commission with the information regarding release of closed
session minutes and destruction of verbatim notes of closed sessions, The
Commission directed that appropriate minutes of closed sessions be placed on
the agenda for the next meeting for review.
The Commission adjourned Into Executive Session at 6:30 p.m. for purposes of
personnel matter deliberation, upon unanimous vote. (Mr. Smith left the
meeting at 8:20 p.m.)
The Commission reconvened into open session at 9 p.m., and took the following
actions:
Approved the appointment of Thomas Londo, Philip Mosberg, and
Matthew Smith as probationary Firefighter/Paramedics, subject to normal pre-
employment conditions.
The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for January 23, 2006 at 6 p.m.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:20 p.m.

The Commission reconvened into open session, and took the following actions:
- Approved the appointment of Justin Morson AND David Smrha as
probationary Firefighter/Paramedics, subject to normal pre -employment
conditions.
Approved the release of Executive Session minutes of March 2, 91
13, 18 and 25, 2004; April 1, 2004; and May 6 and 19, 2004.
The next meeting of the Commission Is scheduled for February 8, 2006 at 6 p.m.

personnel matter deliberation, upon unanimous vote.
The Commission reconvened Into open session, and took the following actions:
Approved the appointment of Daniel Lynch as a probationary
Firefighter/Paramedic, subject to normal pre -employment
conditions.

The meeting of the Evanston Civil Service Commission was called to order at
6:00 p.m. Minutes of the September 7, 2007 meeting were reviewed and
approved.
Being that there was a new Civil Service Commissioner, Justin Moore, attending
the meeting an overview of the recruitment process as well as the candidate file
review process was done in order to familiarize Mr. Moore with the role of the
Civil Service Commission and Human Resources.
Fire & Life Safety Services staffing levels were reviewed - one (1) current
opening with four (4) to six (6) more openings to come within the next four (4)
to six (6) months. Also reviewed were recruitment numbers in terms of total
candidates tested in March `07 and the resulting category lists (A & B); a request
was made for the demographics of the candidates tested and the resulting lists;
these numbers will be provided at the next scheduled meeting (December 19,
2007).

The meeting of the Evanston Civil Service Commission was called to order at
6:02 p.m. Minutes of the December 14, 2007 meeting were not ready for
review; they will be reviewed and approved at the next scheduled meeting.
Fire Chief Alan Berkowsky gave an overview of staffing and upcoming
retirements within the Fire & Life Safety Services department. For the benefit of
the new Civil Service Commissioner, Justin Moore, an overview of the Interview
process was provided by Commissioner Soglin-Kihm, Chief Alan Berkowsky and
Human Resources Specialist Robert Gustafson. Also discussed was the
demographic break -down of the Firefighter/Paramedic candidates who were
tested on March 10, 2007 along with the candidates placed in category A of the
eligibility list.
The Commission adjourned into Executive Session at 6:15 p.m. for purposes of
personnel matter deliberation.
The Commission reconvened into open session, and took the following action:
Approved the appointments of Leah Handelsman and Christopher Fochs as
probationary Firefighter/Paramedics, subject to normal pre -employment
conditions.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
