HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1992-106-O-92• 106-0-92 AN ORDINANCE Authorizing the Sale of Personal Property Owned by the City of Evanston WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined that it is no longer necessary, practical or economical for the best interests of the City of Evanston to retain ownership of the personal property hereinafter described; and WHEREAS, it has been determined by the City Council of the City of Evanston to sell said personal property at a public auction to be held on Sunday, December 6, 1992 at 2:00 P.M.; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON: SECTION 1: That Pursuant to Section 1-17-3(B) of the City • Code of the City of Evanston, 1979, as amended, the City Council finds that the following described personal property has an aggregate value in excess of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500): Surplus Library property remaining after the move into the Interim Library Site: Office Equipment, Furniture, Decorative Materials, and Hardware SECTION 2: Pursuant to said Section 1-17-3(B), the City Council hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager to sell upon terms and conditions he deems reasonable, necessary, and in the best interests of the City the aforedescribed personal property now owned by the City of Evanston at a public auction conducted on Sunday, December 6, 1992 at the Main Library Building, 1703 Orrington, Evanston, IL to the highest bidder on said property. -1- SECTION 3: The City Manager is hereby authorized and may direct the Purchasing Agent to advertise the sale of the aforementioned personal property in a newspaper having a general circulation within the City before the date of said public auction. SECTION 4: The City Manager is hereby authorized and may direct the Purchasing Agent to enter into an agreement for the sale of said personal property. SECTION 5: Upon payment of the price indicated in the successful bid, the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to convey evidence of ownership to the aforesaid property to the successful bidder(s). SECTION 6: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 7: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by* law.
