HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1993-066-O-93I 5/27/93 6/10/93 66-0-93 AN ORDINANCE Amending Section 3-20-2 of the Evanston City Code Requiring a State License for Motor Vehicle Repair Shops WHEREAS, any person desiring to conduct the business of an automotive parts recycler, a scrap processor, a repairer, or rebuilder is required by State law to obtain a license from the Secretary of State, pursuant to 625 ILCS 5/301, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Section 3-20-2 of the Evanston City Code, 1979, as amended, be and hereby is further amended as follows: 3-20-2: LICENSE REQUIRED; APPLICATION: No person shall manage, conduct, operate or carry on the business of a motor vehicle repair shop without first having obtained a license therefor. Application for a license to conduct or maintain or carry on the business of a motor vehicle repair shop shall be made in writing to the City Collector. The application shall contain the name of the applicant, if an individual, the names of the principal officers, if a corporation, and the location of the place of business at which the applicant desires to operate, manage or conduct a motor vehicle repair shop business. A separate license shall be required for each motor vehicle repair shop establishment carried on or conducted by any applicant wherever located in the City. Before a license shall be issued, each application shall be submitted to the City Collector, and the Director of Housing and Property Services shall determine that all the requirements of the BOCA 1 Basic Building Code, the Zoning Ordinance, the Plumbing Code and the Electrical Code of the City are complied with. No such license may be issued unless an applicant has alreadv secured and produces a copv of a state license pursuant to 625 ILCS 5/301 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes. When an application has been filed and approved by the License and Measures Inspector, as hereinabove provided, then upon the payment of the license fee hereinafter provided, the City Collector shall issue to said applicant a license authorizing said applicant to engage in or carry on the business of motor vehicle repair shop in the place designated in the license and for the period herein stated. SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 3: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication. in the manner provided by law.
