HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1995-010-O-951 /24/95 10-0-95 AN ORDINANCE Amending Section 6-18-3 of the Zoning Ordinance, Definition of "Lot" WHEREAS, the Plan Commission held a public hearing on January 11, 1995, pursuant to proper notice in case number ZPC 94-0007(T), upon a reference from the Evanston City Council to consider an amendment to the definition of "Lot" in section 6-18-3 of the Zoning Ordinance; and WHEREAS, the Plan Commission concluded that amending the definition of "Lot" to require frontage on a street is necessary to ensure the City's ability to provide essential City services; and • WHEREAS, the Plan Commission recommended Council approval of the amendment to said definition; and WHEREAS, the Planning and Development Committee of the City Council considered the reference at its February 13, 1995 meeting and voted to accept the Plan Commission's recommendation, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: The City Council hereby accepts the Planning and Development Committee's recommendation in case no. ZPC 94-0007-(T) that the definition of "Lot" in section 6-18-3 of the Zoning Ordinance be amended to require frontage on a street, to read as follows: • 1 "Lot": A parcel of land located within a single block which shall be either a "lot of record" or a "zoning lot" and shall have frontage upon a "street". SECTION 2: That said text amendment is based upon this finding, pursuant to section 6-3-4-5(D) of the Zoning Ordinance: The proposed amendment will enhance the adequacy of public facilities and services in that it will provide a means of access for emergency vehicles and other public service providers. SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
