HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1996-013-O-96E 2/6/96 3/14/96 13-0-96 AN ORDINANCE Amending Chapter 11 of Title 7 of the Evanston City Code Regulating City Beaches and Boat Ramps NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Section 7-11-2 of the Evanston City Code, 1979, as amended, is hereby further amended by deleting that section in its entirety and replacing it with the following new section: 7-11-2: AREAS PROHIBITED FOR BATHING PURPOSES: No swimming is permitted from public rights of way not officially designated as public beaches or • from boats located within two hundred (200) yards of the public shoreline. Swimming is permitted only on those portions of designated beaches that are guarded and posted for swimming. • SECTION 2: That Section 7-1 1-4(D) of the Evanston City Code, 1979, as amended, is hereby further amended by deleting the final phrase "or close beaches for swimming" and adding the following after the word "area,": "or close all beaches and beach facilities, including the dog beach, launch facilities, and the beach office." SECTION 3: That Section 7-11-7(A) of the Evanston City Code, 1979, as amended, is hereby further amended by deleting that section in its entirety and replacing it with the following new section: 7-11-7(A) Permit Required: Season or daily permits are required for boat launching from the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. 1 13-0-96 SECTION 4: That Section 7-11-7(A) of the Evanston City Code, 1979, as amended, is hereby further amended by adding the following additional sentence: The number of season permits for personal watercraft is limited to twenty-five (25), Evanston residents only. No daily permits for personal watercraft will be issued. SECTION 5: That Section 7-11-7(I) of the Evanston City Code, 1979, as amended, is hereby further amended by adding the following additional subsection: (1) Closure: The City Manager or a designee may close the launch facilities based on existing conditions or staffing capabilities. SECTION 6: That Section 7-11-8 of the Evanston City Code, 1979, as amended, is hereby further amended by adding the following additional subsection: (0) The City Manager or a designee may close the dog beach pursuant to Section 7-1 1-4(D) of the Evanston City Code. SECTION 7: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 8: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
