AN ORDINANCE
Amending the City Code of the
City of Evanston Sections 1-5-9, 1-6-10,
1-7-5 pertaining to the
Compensation of Elected Officials
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK
COUNTY, ILLINOIS,
SECTION 1: That Section 1-5-9 of the Code of the City of Evanston be amended to
read as follows:
1-5-9 COMPENSATION: The compensation to be paid to Aldermen for his/her
services is hereby fixed as follows.
a. Commencing on and after the first regularly scheduled meeting at which
Aldermen elected April 1997 take office at the sum of six thousand five
• hundred and no/100ths dollars ($6,500.00) plus medical benefits per annum.
b. The Aldermanic compensation structure shall be reviewed by a non-
aldermanic committee every four years which Committee shall submit a report
and recommendation to the City Council no later than two hundred forty days
(240) prior to the next regularly scheduled municipal elections.
SECTION 2: That Section 1-7-5 of the Code of the City of Evanston is, hereby
amended to read as follows:
1-7-5 COMPENSATION: The compensation to be paid to the City Clerk for his/her
services is hereby fixed as follows and shall be paid in bi-weekly installments
a. Commencing on and after the first regularly scheduled meeting at which City
Clerk elected April 1997 takes office at the sum of thirty six thousand and
no/100ths dollars ($36,000.00) plus medical benefits per annum in twenty-six
(26) bi-weekly installments.
b. The City Clerk compensation structure shall be reviewed by non-aldermanic
committee every four years which Committee shall submit a report and
recommendation to the City Council no later than two hundred forty days
(240) prior to the next regularly scheduled municipal elections.

SECTION 3: That Section 1-6-10 of the City Code of the City of Evanston is hereby
amended to read as follows:
1-6-10 COMPENSATION: The compensation to be paid to The Mayor for his/her
services is hereby fixed as follows.
a. Commencing on and after the first regularly scheduled meeting at which the
Mayor elected April 1997 takes office May 1997 through April 1998 at the
sum of twelve thousand and no/100ths dollars ($12,000.00) plus medical
benefits per annum.
b. The Mayoral compensation structure shall be renewed by a non-aldermanic
committee every four years, which Committee shall submit a report a
recommendation to the City Council no later than two hundred forty days
(240) prior the next regularly scheduled municipal election.
SECTION 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
SECTION 5: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
