AN ORDINANCE
Granting a Special Use to Permit Outdoor Storage of
Semi -Tractor Trailers With or Without
the Semi -Tractor at 1000 Grey Avenue
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals ("ZBA") held a public hearing on
January 21,1997 and April 15, 1997 pursuant to proper notice in case no. ZBA 96-46-
SU(R), wherein the applicant, Frank Zimmerman, sought approval for a special use to
permit the property at 1000 Grey Avenue to be used for outdoor parking and storage of
semi -tractor trailers with or without the semi -tractor for each trailer, on property located
in an I2, General Industrial District; and
• WHEREAS, based upon the testimony, plans, and other evidence presented, the
ZBA made written findings of fact, determining that the proposed special use met each of
the standards for special uses set forth in section 6-3-5-10 of the Zoning Ordinance; and
relief,
WHEREAS, the ZBA voted to recommend that the City Council grant the requested
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That based upon the testimony, plans, and other evidence presented
to the ZBA, the City Council hereby adopts the findings and recommendation of the ZBA
and grants a special use to permit the property at 1000 Grey Avenue to be used for outdoor
• parking and storage of semi -tractor trailers with or without the semi -tractor for each
trailer, on property legally described as set forth in Attachment 1, made a part hereof.

SECTION 2: Pursuant to section 6-3-5-12 of the Zoning Ordinance, which provides •
that the City Council may impose conditions and limitations, these conditions are hereby
imposed:
a. The operation of the said use shall conform to the testimony and exhibits
presented in connection with this case and at the hearing.
b. No more than five semi -tractor trailers may be stored at any time.
C. Semi -tractor trailers so stored must be a minimum 40-foot length or, in the
alternative, the applicant will take steps necessary to prevent the use of the
public alley west of and parallel to Grey Avenue south of Lee Street by. any
semi -tractor trailers stored or parked on the subject property.
SECTION 3: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law. •
