AN ORDINANCE
•
Authorizing the Sale
of Personal Property Owned by the City of Evanston
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined that it is no longer
necessary, practical or economical for the best interests of the City of Evanston to retain
ownership of the personal property hereinafter described; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined by the City Council of the City of Evanston to sell
said personal property at a public auction to be held on Saturday, May 10, 1997, at 11:00 A.M. ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON:
SECTION 1: That Pursuant to Section 1-17-3(B) of the City Code of the City of
Evanston, 1979, as amended, the City Council finds that the following described personal
property has an aggregate value in excess of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500):

• SECTION 2: Pursuant to said Section 1-17-3(B), the City Council hereby authorizes and
directs the City Manager to sell upon terms and conditions he deems reasonable, necessary, and
in the best interests of the City the aforedescribed personal property now owned by the City of
Evanston at a public auction conducted under the aegis of the Northwest Municipal Conference
on Saturday, May 10, 1997 at 11:00 A.M. at the Arlington Heights Public Works Facility, 222
Ridge Avenue, Arlington Heights, Illinois, to the highest bidder on said property.
SECTION 3: The City Manager is hereby authorized and may direct the Northwest
Municipal Conference Agent to advertise the sale of the aforementioned personal property in a
newspaper having a general circulation within the City before the date of said public auction.
• SECTION 4: A bid which is less than the minimum price set forth shall be accepted.
SECTION 5: The City Manager is hereby authorized and may direct the Northwest
Municipal Conference to enter into an agreement for the sale of said property.
SECTION 6: Upon payment of the price indicated in the successful bid, the City
Manager is hereby authorized and directed to convey evidence of ownership to the aforesaid
property to the successful bidder(s).

SECTION 7: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.

SECTION 8: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
