AN ORDINANCE
Authorizing the Sale of City Surplus Personal Property
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined that it
is no longer necessary, practical or economical for the best interests of the ,-City of
Evanston to retain ownership of the surplus personal property hereinafter described; and,
WHEREAS, it has been determined by the City Council of the City of
Evanston to sell said surplus personal property at a public auction to be held on: Saturday,

October 24, 1998,
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EVANSTON:
SECTION 1: That pursuant to Section 1-1 7-3(B) of the City Code of the City
of Evanston, 1979, as amended, the City Council finds that the following described surplus
personal property has as aggregate value in excess of one thousand, five hundred dollars
($1, 500):
• SECTION 2: that pursuant to said Section 1-17-3(B), the City Council hereby
authorizes and directs the City Manager to sell upon terms and conditions he deems
reasonable, necessary, and in the best interests of the City the aforedescribed surplus
personal property now owned by the City of Evanston at a public auction conducted under •
the aegis of the Northwest Municipal Conference Auction, on Saturday, October 3, 1998,
to the highest bidder on said surplus personal property.

SECTION 3: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and may direct the
Northwest Municipal Conference Auction to advertise the sale of the aforementioned
surplus personal roe in a newspaper havin a general circulation within the City

before the date of said public auction.
SECTION 4: That no bid which is less than the minimum price set forth shall
be accepted. •
SECTION 5: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and may direct the
Northwest Municipal Conference Auction to enter into an agreement for the sale of said
surplus personal property.

SECTION 6: That upon payment of the price indicated in the successful bid,
the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to convey evidence of ownership to
the aforesaid surplus personal property to the successful bidder(s).
SECTION 7: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
ae r hereby repealed. •
SECTION 8: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
• its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided b law.
