• AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING SECTION 1-4-2 OF TITLE 1, CHAPTER 4
REGARDING COMPLIANCE CITATIONS
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the Evanston City Code of 1979, as amended, be and it hereby is,
further amended by deleting Section 1-4-2 in its entirety and substituting the following therefor:
SECTION 1-4-2: COMPLIANCE CITATIONS:
A. Notwithstanding any other provisions of the City Code, including penalty provisions, any
person accused of any of the below -stated violations, may be issued a Notice of Ordinance
• Violation that is consistent with this Section 1-4-2.

B. 1. Such Notice of Ordinance violation shall state the section of the City Code that was
alleged to have been violated and shall notify the alleged violator that he may, in lieu of an
appearance in court for such violation, pay the amount of $75.00 to resolve the matter, before the
expiration of thirty (30) days following the issuance of said Notice of Ordinance Violation.
2. A Notice of Ordinance Violation unpaid after the expiration of thirty days following
the date of issuance, for which a court date has not been requested as provided for in Section
1-4-2(B)(3), below, shall constitute a debt due and owing to the City for which the City may
institute collection proceedings.
3. The alleged violator, who wishes to contest the violation, may request a court date by •

appearing in person to do so at the Evanston City Collector's Office before the hour of 5:00 p.m.
on the third business day following issuance of the Notice of Ordinance Violation.
SECTION 2: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
SECTION 3: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
