AN ORDINANCE
Authorizing The City Manager to Negotiate A Sale
of the Thirty -Five Foot (351) Strip of Land
Immediately West of the CTA Purple Line Tracks,
and Bounded by Clark, Church and Maple Streets
in Evanston, Illinois and Authorizing
the Publication of a Notice of Intent
to Sell Certain Real Estate
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON,
COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the City Manager be and is hereby authorized and directed to
• negotiate the sale of the City's interests in the real estate legally described in Exhibit A and
commonly known as the thirty-five foot (35') strip of land immediately west of the CTA Purple
Line tracks, and bounded by Clark, Church and Maple Streets in Evanston, Illinois.
Pursuant to Section 1-17-4-2(B), an affirmative vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the elected
aldermen is required to accept the recommendation of the City Manager on the negotiation
authorized herein. The City reserves the right to reject any and all negotiations.
SECTION 2: Pursuant to Section 1-17-42(B) such Notice of Sale by negotiation
must be published at least once in a daily or weekly newspaper in general circulation in the city.
The publication must not be less than 15 nor more than 30 days before the date on which the City
Council shall consider the adoption of the ordinance approving the sale of the property.

SECTION 3: That the Notice of Intent to sell the Property shall be substantially as is
shown on Exhibit A.

NOTICE OF INTENT TO SELL AS BY ASSIGNMENT
CERTAIN REAL ESTATE INTERESTS BY NEGOTIATION
Public Notice is hereby given that on November 8, 1999 at 8:30PM in the City Council
Chambers at 2100 Ridge Avenue, the Evanston Civic Center, the Evanston City Council
will consider for approval the sale by assignment of the City's interest in a certain
easement, license and real estate purchase contract commonly known as, all with the
Chicago Transit Authority of the following legally described real estate, to wit:
Said property is presently vacant and will be used for the purposes as set forth in the
underlying easement, license and real estate sales contract as allowed by the City Zoning
Ordinance.

From the South line of Clark Street to the North line of Church Street, a strip of land 5 ft.
wide described as follows:
• The West 5 ft. of the East 100 ft. of Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 in Block 18 in the Village of
Evanston, in the East half of the Northwest quarter of Section 18, Township 41 North,
Range 14, East of the Third Principal Meridian, in Cook County, Illinois.
LICENSE:
From the South line of Clark Street to the North line of Church Street, a strip of land 18 ft.
wide described as follows:
The East 18 ft. of the West 35 ft. of the East 100 ft. of Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in Block 18 in
the Village of Evanston, in the East half of the Northwest quarter of Section 18, Township
41 North, Range 14, East of the Third Principal Meridian, in Cook County, Illinois.
EASEMENT:
From the South line of Clark Street to the North line of Church Street, a strip of land 12 ft.
wide described as follows:
The East 12 Ft. of the West 17 Ft. of the East 100 Ft. of Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 in Block 18
in the Village of Evanston, in the East half of the Northwest quarter of Section 18,
Township 41 North, Range 14, East of the Third Principal Meridian, in Cook County,
Illinois.
