HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1999-037-O-99• 37-0-99 AN ORDINANCE Authorizing the Sale of City Surplus Personal Property Owned by the City of Evanston WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined that it is no longer necessary, practical or economical for the best interests of the City of Evanston to retain ownership of the surplus personal property hereinafter described; and, WHERAS, it has been determined by the City Council of the City of Evanston to sell said surplus property to the highest bidder at a public auction to be held on April 24, 1999, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE • CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That pursuant to Section 1-17-3(B) of the City Code of the City of Evanston, 1979, as amended, the City Council finds that the following described surplus personal property (as summarized on attached sheets) has an aggregate value in excess of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500) SECTION 2: That pursuant to said Section 1-17-3(B), the City Council hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager to sell upon terms and conditions he deems reasonable, necessary, and in the best interest of the City the aforescribed surplus property now owned by the City of Evanston at a public auction conducted under the aegis of the Village of Fox Lake, on Saturday, April 24, 1999, to the highest bidder on said surplus property. SECTION 3: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and may direct the Village of Fox Lake to advertise the sale of aforementioned surplus personal property in a newspaper having a general circulation within the City before the date of said public auction. SECTION 4: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and may • direct the Village of Fox Lake to enter into an agreement for the sale of said surplus property. SECTION 5: That upon payment of the price indicated in the successful bid, the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to convey evidence of ownership of aforesaid surplus personal property to the successful bidder(s). SECTION 6: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 7: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
