HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-2001-016-O-01• 2/6/01 16-0-01 AN ORDINANCE Authorizing the City Manager to Negotiate the Sale Of Certain Real Estate at 1840 Oak Avenue, Evanston, Illinois and Authorizing the Publication of a Notice of Intent to Sell Certain Real Estate WHEREAS, the City of Evanston is desirous of selling, as owner, the real property legally described as follows: Parcel 1 THE SOUTH 11-1/2 FEET OF LOT 3, MEASURED ALONG THE EAST LINE THEREOF, IN OWNER'S SUBDIVISON OF LOT 21 IN COUNTY CLERK'S DIVISION OF UNSUBDIVIDED LANDS IN THE NORTHWEST QUARTER OF • SECTION 18, TOWNSHIP 41, RANGE 14 EAST OF THE THIRD PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN IN COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS. P.I.N. NO. 11-18-112-005 Parcel 2 LOTS 13, 14 AND 15 IN BLOCK 1 IN CIRCUIT COURT SUBDIVISON IN PARTITION OF LOTS 22 IN CLERK'S DIVISION OF UNSUBDIVIDED LANDS IN SECTION 18, TOWNSHIP 41 NORTH, RANGE 14, EAST OF THE THIRD PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN, EXCEPT THAT PART OF LOTS 13 AND 14, IF ANY, WHICH FALLS IN LOTS 1 AND 3, IN OWNER'S SUBDIVISION OF LOT 21, IN COUNTY CLERK'S DIVISON, AFORESAID, OF UNSUBDIVIDED LANDS IN THE NORTHWEST QUARTER OF SECTION 18, TOWNSHIP 41 NORTH, RANGE 14 EAST OF THE THIRD PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN IN COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS. No. 11-18-112-031 16-0-00 • And commonly known as 1840 Oak Avenue, in the City of Evanston and hereinafter referred to as the "Property"; and WHEREAS, in the opinion of the corporate authorities of the City of Evanston, use of said Property is no longer necessary, appropriate, required for use of, profitable to, or in the best interest of said City; and WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the City of Evanston have determined that the best interests of the City of Evanston would be served by the sale of said Property; and WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the City of Evanston have deemed that the sale of said Property is to take place as the result of negotiation; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF • EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the City Manager be and is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate the sale of the real estate legally described above and commonly known as 1840 Oak Avenue to one or more purchasers. Pursuant to Section 1-1 7-4-2(B) of the City Code, an affirmative vote of two thirds (2/3) of the elected aldermen is required to accept the recommendation of the City Manager on the negotiation authorized herein. The City of Evanston reserves the right to reject any and all negotiations. SECTION 2: That the City Manager be and is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of intent to sell the aforementioned real estate to one or more purchasers. Such Notice of Sale must be published at least once in a daily or weekly newspaper in • 2 16-0-00 general circulation in the City of Evanston. The publication must not be less than 15 nor more than 30 days before the date on which the City Council shall consider the adoption of the ordinance approving the sale of property. SECTION 3: That the Notice of Intent to sell the Property shall be in substantially the following form: Public Notice is hereby given that the City of Evanston proposes to sell by negotiation the real estate legally described as follows and commonly known as 1840 Oak Avenue, Evanston, Illinois in one or more purchasers. The current use of subject property is as an office building.
