HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-2001-088-O-0103/26/2002 88-0-01 AN ORDINANCE Amending the Text of the Zoning Ordinance in Section 6-16-3, Table 16B to Increase Minimum Off -Street Parking Requirements for Multiple -Family Dwellings WHEREAS, the Plan Commission held a public hearing on July 11, 2001 pursuant to proper notice in case no. ZPC 01-7 (T) to consider an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance in Section 6-16-3, Table 1613, Schedule of Minimum Off -Street Parking Requirements, regarding parking and loading requirements for residential uses; and • WHEREAS, the Plan Commission, after hearing testimony and receiving other evidence, made a written record and findings pursuant to Section 6-3-4-5 of the Zoning Ordinance that the below -described amendment to Section 6-16-3, Table 1613, increasing the off-street parking requirements for multiple -family dwellings, met the standards for amendments to the text of the Zoning Ordinance; and WHEREAS, the Planning and Development Committee of the City Council considered the Plan Commission's findings at its July 23, 2001, September 10, 2001 and February 25, 2002 meetings and recommended approval of the said text amendment; and WHEREAS, the City Council considered the records and recommendations of the Plan Commission and the Planning and Development Committee at its 0 February 25, 2002 and March 11, 2002 meetings, and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: • SECTION 1: That the Zoning Ordinance of the Evanston City Code of 1979, as amended by and it hereby is, further amended, by revising those portions of Section 6-16-3, Table 16B as relate to multiple -family dwellings, to read as follows: 6-16-3: SPECIFIC OFF-STREET PARKING REQUIREMENTS: Table 16-B — Schedule of Minimum Off -Street Parking Requirements Multiple -Family Dwellings shall be provided according to the following schedule: Dwelling unit with 1 bedroom or less 1'/4 spaces/ dwelling unit Dwelling unit with 2 bedrooms/ 1'/2 spaces/ dwelling unit Dwelling unit with 3 or more bedrooms 2 spaces/ dwelling unit For purposes of this section, any room other than a kitchen, living room, dining room, living -dining room, laundry room, bathroom, or lavatory shall be deemed a bedroom. • SECTION 2: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 3: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
