AN ORDINANCE
Amending Ordinance 38-0-00
To Extend the Sunset Provision an
Additional 45 Days on the Immobilization of
Vehicles on Private Property by Private Entities
WHEREAS, the City Council did pass, on June 12, 2000, Ordinance 38-0-00 which
prohibits the booting of motor vehicles by private parties; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 38-0-00 included a sunset provision providing that the
Ordinance would terminate and be of no effect ninety (90) days from and after its passage,
is
approval and publication in the manner provided by law unless affirmatively adopted by
City Council action; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 106-0-00, which was passed on September 11, 2000,
extended the sunset provision an additional 45 days until October 28, 2000; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 117-0-00, which was passed on October 23, 2000,
extended the sunset provision an additional sixty-five (65) days; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 134-0-00, which was passed on December 18, 2000,
extended the sunset provision an additional one hundred fifty (150) days until May 27,
2001; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 38-0-00, prohibiting the booting of motor vehicles by private
• parties, shall terminate by May 27, 2001, unless affirmatively adopted by City Council
action, or unless the sunset provision is extended.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That Section 3 of Ordinance 38-0-00 is hereby amended by deleting
the phrase "three hundred fifty (350) days" and substituting in lieu thereof the phrase,
"three hundred ninety-five (395) days," thereby extending the sunset provision to July 11,
2001.
SECTION 2: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon passage and
approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
