HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-2003-063-O-03C� 06/18/2003 63-0-03 AN ORDINANCE Authorizing the Sale of City -Owned Surplus Personal Property WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined that it is no longer necessary, practical, or economical or in the best interests of the City of Evanston to retain ownership of the surplus personal property hereinafter described; and, WHEREAS, it has been determined by the City Council of the City of Evanston to sell said surplus property to the highest bidder at a public auction to be held on August 2, 2003, • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That pursuant to Section 1-17-3 (B) of the City Code of the City of Evanston, 1979, as amended, the City Council finds that the surplus property described in Exhibit A (attached to this Ordinance) has an aggregate value in excess of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500.00). SECTION 2: That pursuant to said Section 1-17-3 (B), the City Council hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager to sell upon terms and conditions he deems reasonable, necessary, and in the best interest of the City the aforedescribed surplus now owned by the City of Evanston at a public auction conducted under the aegis of the Lake 0 County Auction on August 2, 2003. 63-0-03 • SECTION 3: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and may direct the Lake County Auction to advertise the sale of aforementioned surplus property in a newspaper having a general circulation within the City before the date of said public auction. SECTION 4: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and may direct the Lake County Auction to enter into an agreement for the sale of said surplus property. SECTION 5: That upon payment of the price indicated in the successful bid, the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to convey evidence of ownership of aforesaid surplus personal property to each successful bidder(s). SECTION 6: That all ordinances or parts in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
