AN ORDINANCE
Amending the Zoning Map to Rezone the Area Bounded
Generally by Ridge Avenue, Emerson Street, Orrington Avenue,
and Noyes Street from R4 to R4a Residential Zoning District
and All of Gaffleld Place from R5 to an
R4a Residential Zoning District
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission met on November 3, 2004,
December 3, 2004, January 5, 2005, January 12, 2005, and May 11, 2005,
pursuant to proper notice in case no. ZPC 04-11 M&T, to consider an
application for amendments to the text of the Zoning Ordinance and the zoning
• map to establish an R4a General Residential District; and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission, after hearing testimony and
receiving other evidence, made a verbatim record thereof and determined that the
application met the standards for text and map amendments in Section 6-3-4-5 of
the Zoning Ordinance and recommended City Council approval thereof; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved Ordinance 71-0-05 at its
September 12, 2005 meeting to amend the text of Zoning Ordinance to create a
new Section 6-8-6 to establish the R4a Residential District; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Development Committee
considered and adopted the record and recommendation of the Plan

Commission at its August 15, 2005 and September 12, 2005 meetings, and
recommended City Council approval of the Zoning map amendment; and
WHEREAS, the City Council considered and adopted the
respective records and recommendations of the Plan Commission and the
Planning and Development Committee at its August 15, 2005 and
September 12, 2005 meetings,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing recitals are found as fact and
made a part hereof.
SECTION 2: That the properties listed in Exhibit A, and all
intervening rights -of -way, are hereby rezoned to R4a General Residential District. •
SECTION 3: That the areas described in Section 2, Exhibit A, of
this Ordinance and hereby rezoned are legally described in Exhibit B and set
forth in the zoning map, Exhibit C. Exhibit A, Exhibit B, and Exhibit C are
attached hereto and made a part hereof.
SECTION 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner
provided by law.
