AN ORDINANCE
Amending -Section 6-14-3-3 of the Zoning Ordinance, Title 6,
Chapter 14, "Industrial Districts",
To Add "Retail Goods Establishment"
And "Retail Service Establishment" to the
List of Permitted Special Uses in the IZ General Industrial
District
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission held a public hearing on August 9,
2006, pursuant to proper notice in case no. ZPC 06-09-T to amend the text of
the Zoning Ordinance to add "retail establishments" to the list of special uses in
the 12 General Industrial District; and
• WHEREAS, the Plan Commission received testimony and made a
verbatim transcript and findings pursuant to Section 6-3-4-5 of the Zoning
Ordinance that the amendment met the standards for text amendments, and
recommended City Council approval thereof; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Development Committee of the City Council
adopted the findings and recommendation of the Plan Commission in case no.
ZPC 06-09-T, and recommended City Council approval thereof; and
WHEREAS, at its September 11, 2006 meeting, the City Council considered the
respective records and recommendations of the Plan Commission and the
Planning and Development Committee; and

WHEREAS, at its September 25, 2006 meeting, the City Council adopted •
the respective records and recommendations of the Plan Commission and the
Planning and Development Committee, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the Zoning Ordinance, Title 6 of the Evanston
City Code of 1979, as amended, is hereby further amended by revising Section
6-14-3-3 of Chapter 14, "Industrial Districts", to read as follows:
6-14-3-3: SPECIAL USES:
The following uses may be allowed in the 12 District, subject to the provisions set
forth in section 6-3-5, "Special Uses", of this title:
Automobile storage lot.
Car wash. •
Heavy cargo and freight terminal.
Heavy manufacturing.
Media broadcasting tower.
Open sales lot.
Outdoor storage (when covering more than 30 percent of an interior side yard or
as a principal use).
Pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Planned development (subject to the requirements of section 6-14-1-10,
"Planned Developments", of this chapter and section 6-3-6, "Planned
Developments", of this title).
Recycling center.
Religious institutions (provided the principal structure is a minimum of 35,000
square feet).
Restaurant - type 1. •
Restaurant - type 2.

Retail qoods establishment.
Retail service establishment.
SECTION 2: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner
provided by law.
