AN ORDINANCE
Amending Title 2, Chapter 14,
Sections 2 and 3 of the
Evanston City Code
(Evanston Energy Commission)
WHEREAS, the Evanston Energy Commission currently consists of
eleven (11) members; and
WHEREAS, the Rules Committee of the City Council has
recommended a reduction of the membership of the Commission to seven (7)
members; and
Is NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the Evanston City Code, Section 2-14-2 is
amended to read as follows:
2-14-2: ESTABLISHMENT OF COMMISSION: The Evanston Energy
Commission (the "Commission"), shall consist of seven (7) members appointed by
the., Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. In making such
appointments, the Mayor may consider the individual's knowledge of and
familiarity :with either the electrical energy industry and its regulations or the
individual's engineering or finance experience. Members of the Commission shall
be.residents of the City or individuals who conduct business in Evanston. All
members shall be appointed for four (4) year terms. Members may serve for not
more' than two (2) terms. The majority of the members shall be
Evanston residents.
• If a. vacancy occurs, it shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor for a new full
term with the advice and consent of the City Council.
SECTION 2: That the Evanston City Code, Section 2-14-3 is
amended to read as follows:
2-14-3: ORGANIZATION: Immediately upon its organization, the
Commission shall select from its membership, a chairperson, vice-chairman and
secretary. Persons so selected shall serve for terms of one year and may be re-
elected. The Commission shall adopt rules for the conduct of its meetings and
keep written minutes. All meetings, minutes, and other procedures shall be open
to the public as required by the State. The Commission shall meet at the call of
the chairperson and at such other times as may be provided by its rules. Four (4)
members shall constitute a quorum. The members of the Commission shall serve
without compensation.
SECTION 3: That ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication -in the manner provided by law.
