HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-2008-097-O-08• Effective date: September 25, 2008 8/6/20088/5/2008 97-0-08 AN ORDINANCE Amending Sections 1-5-9(b), 1-6-10(b), 1-7-5(b) of the Evanston City Code Decreasing the Amount of Days a Non-Aldermanic Compensation Committee Shall Submit a Report and Recommendation to the City Council Prior to the Next Regularly Scheduled Municipal Election BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, SECTION 1: That Section 1-5-9(b) of the Code of the City of „Evanston be amended to read as follows: • 1-5-9 COMPENSATION: The compensation to be, paid to Aldermen for his/her services is hereby fixed as follows. a. Commencing on and after the first regularly scheduled meeting at which Aldermen elected April 2001 take office at the sum of -ten thousand and no/100ths dollars ($10,000.00) plus medical benefits per annum. b. The Aldermanic compensation structure shall be reviewed by a non- aldermanic committee every four (4) years which Committee shall submit a report and recommendation to the City Council no later than two hundred days (200) prior to the next regularly scheduled municipal elections. SECTION 2: That Section 1-6-10(b) of the City Code of the City of Evanston is hereby amended to read as follows: 1-6-10 COMPENSATION: The compensation to be paid to The Mayor for his/her services is hereby fixed as follows. a. Commencing on and after the first regularly scheduled meeting at which the • Mayor elected April 2001 takes office May 2001 through April 2005 at the sum of 97-0-08 seventeen thousand and no/100ths dollars ($17,000.00) plus medical benefits • per annum. b. The Mayoral compensation structure shall be reviewed by a non-aldermanic committee every four (4) years, which Committee shall submit a report and recommendation to the City Council no later than two hundred days (200) prior the next regularly scheduled municipal election. SECTION 3: That Section 1-7-5(b) of the Code of the City of Evanston is hereby amended to read as follows: 1-7-5 COMPENSATION: The 'compensation to be paid to the City Clerk for his/her services is hereby fixed as follows and shall be paid in bi-weekly installments. a. Commencing on and after the first regularly scheduled meeting at which City Clerk elected April 2001 takes office at the sum of forty-nine thousand and no/100ths dollars ($49,000.00) plus medical benefits per annum in twenty-six (26) bi-weekly installments. b. The City Clerk compensation structure shall be reviewed by a non- • aldermanic committee every four (4) years which Committee shall submit a report and recommendation to the City Council no later than two hundred days (200) prior to the next regularly scheduled municipal elections. SECTION 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 5: That this Ordinance 97-0-08 shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law. SECTION 6: That if any provision of this Ordinance 97-0-08 or application thereof to any person or circumstance is held unconstitutional or otherwise invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of this Ordinance 97-0-08 that can be given effect without the invalid • -2- 97-0-08 • • • application or provision, and each invalid application of this Ordinance is severable.
