HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1977-088-O-77r • 0 9/l/77 AN ORDINANCE Amending Sections III And VIII Of The Evanston Zoning Ordinance WHEREAS, on July 7, 1977 and August 4, 1977 public hearings were con- ducted by the Zoning Amendment Committee pursuant to notice and publication as provided by law; and WHEREAS, the Comprehensive General Plan for the City of Evanston, adopted by the City Council January 7, 1974, has among its stated policies: "Encourage compactness of development that minimizes walking distances and emphasizes pedestrian movement in the core of the central business district. "Discourage curb cuts in the core areas which con- flict with pedestrian and vehicular movement. "Maintain as much short-term curb parking as reason- ably possible in the business district."; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee finds that drive-in banking facilities pose many public hazards and disruptions to pedestrians and vehicular traffic, requiring careful review and precluding allowance of them as a matter of right automatically anywhere in the City: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, Section III, "Rules and Definitions", be amended by adding thereto imme- diately after the definition "Dormitory", the following definition:
