• AN ORDINANCE
Amending Section 25-1/2-17
Of The Evanston Municipal Code
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK
COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: Section 25-1/2-17 of the Code of the City of Evanston,
1957, relating to the Evanston Fair Housing Review Board
is amended by adding to said section the following paragraph, which shall be
inserted following the loth full paragraph of said Section to wit:
"In addition to or in lieu of any other remedy available under
. this Ordinance the Board may order the Respondent to pay compensa-
tory damages to the Complainant and/or reasonable attorney fees.
The amount of said compensatory damages claimed shall be set forth
in the original complaint and must be supported by evidence during
the course of the hearing.on said complaint."
SECTION 2: Section 25-1/2-17 of the Code of the City of Evanston,
1957, relating to the Evanston Fair Housing Review Board
is amended by deleting the fifth from the last paragraph of said section and
inserting in lieu thereof the following paragraph to read:
"Any broker or manager whose license has been suspended or
revoked, or any Respondent or Complainant aggrieved by the deci-
sion of the Board, shall have full right to appeal from such
order or finding by any appropriate action in law or equity in
• any court of competent jurisdiction; provided, however, that the
order of the Board shall become final if no appropriate action
for judicial review is taken within thirty (30) days after the
issuance of said order."

SECTION 3: Section 25=1/2-17 of the Code of the City of Evanston,
1957, dealing with the Evanston Fair Housing Review Board;
is amended by deleting the second from the last paragraph of said Section and
inserting in lieu thereof the following paragraph to read:
"If a Respondent has been found guilty of a violation of this
Ordinance, in accordance witfi the procedures specified herein, the
determination of the nature and extent of the penalty shall be
vested in a majority of those members of the Board who heard the
case."
SECTION 4: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication in the
manner provided by law.
