HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1976-032-O-763-18-76 • r� I] 32-0-76 AN ORDINANCE Amending Chapter 27 of the Code of the City of Evanston, 1957, as Amended, Increasing Fines for Parking Ticket Violations BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF.EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Chapter 27 of the Code of the City of Evanston, 1957, as amended, be further amended by amending Section 27-21.3 to read as follows: "Sec. 27-21.3. Any person, firm, or corporation violating the pro- visions of this code pertaining to the stopping, standing, or parking of motor vehicles shall be punishable by fine in accordance with the provisions of Schedule XVII attached hereto and made a part hereof." SECTION 2: That Chapter 27 of the Code of the City of Evanston, 1957, as amended, be further amended by adding thereto Section 27.22.17 which shall read as follows: "SCHEDULE XVII "Sec. 27-22.11. Parking Violation Penalties. The following penalties are hereby established as fines for violation of the parking provisions hereinafter enumerated: A. Penalty - $3.00 plus $3.00 additional penalty if paid after the y expiration of ten days from the date of issue. 1) Expired parking meter Sec. 27-16.4b 2). Parking at meter in excess of time limit Sec. 27-16.4c 3) Alternate Night parking regulations Sec. 27-12.3 B. Penalty - $5.00 plus $5.00 additional penalty if paid after the expiration of ten days from the date of issue. 1') Alley parking - signed residence districts Sec. 27-12.7 2) Business District for selling merchandise Sec. 27-12.3 3) Alley parking - business district Sec. 27-12.5 4) Non -passenger vehicles in residential district Sec. 27-12.6 5) Private property (signed) Sec. 27-12.8 6) Improper parking position Sec. 27-12.10 7) Passenger loading zones Sec. 27-13.4 8) Freight loading zones Sec. 27-13.5 9) Bus and taxicab stands Sec. 27-13.8 10) Improper use of stops and stands by buses and taxicabs Sec. 27-13.7 N'ti�"�:�""��'r,�-'^,�;.t.��+�xKn".LF''�ti•"ln„'°''.`"�w'�"'�" ��p'7!" r; S'a: �`'�_�'`. Penalty - $8.00 plus $8..00 additional penalty if paid after the expiration of ten days from the date of issue. 1) Obstructing traffic Sec. 27-12.1 2) Parking on sidewalk or parkway Sec. 27-12.2 0 ) 3) Parking within eight feet of driveway or alley Sec. 27-12.2(2) 4) Parking within an intersection Sec. 27-12.2(3) 5) Parking within fifteen feet of a fire hydrant Sec. 27-12.2(4) 6) Parking on or within crosswalk Sec. 27-12.2(5) 7) Parking within twenty feet of a crosswalk at intersection Sec. 27-12.2(6) 8) Parking within twenty feet of traffic control device at side of roadway Sec. 27-12.2(7) 9) Parking within fifty feet of railroad grade crossing Sec. 27-12.2(8) 10) Parking within twenty feet of fire station driveway or within seventy-five feet of driveway on opposite side of street Sec. 27-12.2(9) 11) Parking near school property lines between 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. on school days Sec. 27-12.9 12) Parking and leaving unattended with enginge running Sec 27-12 11 13) Parking upon designated snow routes during snow emergency Sec. 27-12.16 Any violator may avoid prosecution for violating the provisions applicable to parking of motor vehicles before legal action has been brought against him ' i �by surrendering the traffic ticket or other notice of violation either j received or placed upon a vehicle, and paying to the Clerk of the. Circuit Court of Cook County, Second Municipal District, within ten days from the date appearing on such violation, the sum pertaining to such violation as expressed herein for the violation alleged. Any person making such payment ,shall receive a receipt therefor from the Clerk of the Circuit Court of 'Cook County, Second Municipal District. 1 4j Notwithstanding the specific fines applicable to the violations herein is � scheduled and additional penalties applicable in the event of non-payment, 1 . ,the maximum fine to be imposed upon a finding of guilty by a court of competent, ?jurisdiction shall not exceed $25.00 for each offense." (a 32-0-76 SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith • are hereby repealed. SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
